Special District Election is on May 5, at the APEX center. I would appreciate your vote.
REELECT – Tim Allport, Director, Arvada Fire Protection District
We are going through a difficult time. I hope you are all doing well. Most of us have never lived through a pandemic like we are going through right now. Even the most optimistic among us must be feeling somewhat anxious about the state of the world right now. I hope all you are reading this, friends, family and first responders stay safe as we endure through these historic and dangerous times.
Our Fire District has started through a period of important transition. I am hopeful about where we are at.
I wish I did not have to talk about politics, but I do. I have decided to seek Reelection to a second term on the Arvada Fire Board. I will avoid giving you a laundry list of group accomplishments made by the district over the last four years. I am just going to give a few reasons why I am seeking reelection.
My lifetime of experience working at multiple government agencies and businesses give me unique and important experience that I strongly believe helps the District. I have a biography linked to the Arvada Fire website.
I have advocated for increased transparency by standing firmly for improved employment rights, public meetings and correspondence and posting more information on the website.
I sometimes stood alone and voted for what I strongly believe is in the public interest. Like anybody, I have beliefs developed through my life experiences. I have never taken the path of least resistance for personal gain or convenience.
I have advocated for democracy in the workplace. If people think something is wrong, they should say so. If they know something is wrong and fail to speak up, this obviously becomes a much bigger concern. I do not want our agency to ever be that type of culture.
There have been some changes to existing election laws, but the Special District election is on. Any registered voter can vote in person at the APEX center on May 5, 2020. However, ballots are NOT sent automatically like they are in the November coordinated election. I recommend you request the permanent absentee mail in ballot as soon as possible and vote by mail. Most people still forget to vote in special district elections and find these elections That is why I have come to believe that special districts should become part of the coordinated elected.
Thank you for support. Contact me if you have any questions.
