Keep capitalism in check
Re: “CEO pay rises to $12.7M even as pandemic ravages economy,” May 29 news story
Your recent article tells the story of why the American dream has become out of reach for so many and economic inequality is now better defined as simple greed with a flashy title.
It may be true that life in American middle class is still a standard other nations envy, but getting there and staying there has become increasingly more difficult. The economic system that built America is tearing it down, but the economic royalists keep stacking the deck and their bank accounts with golden parachutes. The two-party system looks the other way too often.
What is also concerning is now many institutions, including government and even some labor unions, are following this same path to a lesser degree. It is government and labor that traditionally help keep unfettered capitalism in check. More people are taking notice, which is a big reason why the division in our society continues to escalate.
